Attracting Your Ideal Clients by Being You
By Golda Smith
Ask most business owners what one of their major challenges is and they are most likely to mention “attracting the right clients”. Attract the wrong client or no client at all and you and your kids will go hungry. I dare to say that attracting your ideal client begins and ends with you.
I heard Bishop T.D. Jakes make this statement the other night on Oprah’s Life Class. He said “when you are on point, you can’t help but attract that which is yours”. Are you on point? By that I mean do you know without a shadow of a doubt who YOU are…who your ideal client is…what they need and want?
I want to spend some time on the first part of the question…who are YOU? I don’t mean your name, your title or role. I mean the essence of you. That’s powerful and when you’re able to identify with that part of you, you’ll begin attracting the right people and building the business you dreamed of.
Not long ago I attended an event in Dallas, TX. I was beyond everything that I expected and that’s not an exaggeration. I’ve been to my fair share of business events over the last three years and this last event was by far the best and I’ll tell you why. When you step into a space with like-minded individuals, with no agenda other than to serve others AND you are being yourself, magic happens…it really does.
That Saturday evening we had a spiritual equipping session. YES, we were reading the bible at a business event! Toward the end of the session, the speaker invited people to come pray with her at the front of the room. I was one of the first to get there, which is something I would have thought twice about before, but not anymore…I’m being ME.
BE YOU! That’s who your ideal clients are attracted to!!
After the prayer she looked me in the eyes and said that she was being led to pray for me. She began to for me, laying hands on me, touching me from my head to my feet. It was truly amazing. Shortly after the session was over, I found myself walking through the atrium. There was a really nice auction going on and the Doobie Brothers were scheduled to perform (google them if you have no clue who I’m talking about).
Anyway as I’m observing from the other side of the velvet rope I strike up a conversation with a gentleman in a tuxedo. He was a guest at the auction and notices that I’m carrying a big ‘ol bible. Do you know what he said to me? He said “I’m being lead to pray for you”. Wow! So he prays for me and we talk, I see the Doobie Brothers perform and I go to my lovely room. FYI, the Hilton Anatole is a GORGEOUS hotel.
I share that very minute piece of the weekend with you because it speaks directly to the question I asked earlier… who are YOU? When you know who you are and you are on point, you begin attracting that which was meant for you!
With regards to you and social media, is the real you showing up or are you trying to be someone you’re not? That could be why you’re not seeing the results you want and you’re frustrated. Do you find yourself tweeting and you’re the only one showing up on your stream? Why is that? Probably because there’s a disconnect between you and those who you’re trying to serve. Your confidence is lacking and like fear…people can smell it. You'll begin attracting your ideal clients by being you, so don’t be scared to reveal who that is.
I want you to look at yourself in a clean mirror and repeat this quote from one of my favorite SNL characters, Stuart Smalley
“I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!”

Hi Golda, I like your quote here "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and Doggone It, People like me"
Thanks for inspiring us. I like being ME.

There’s a disconnect between you and those who you’re trying to serve. So begin attracting your clients by being you, feel confident and just be your self.
