Have you ever asked for something, received it then for whatever reason you rejected it? I think if we’re being honest, the answer is YES! I had an experience the other afternoon where I witnessed this very thing first hand but this time as the observer.
I had just finished meeting with a potential client and was on my way home. Waiting on the subway platform I spotted a homeless man…not an uncommon sight in New York City.
He was muttering to himself while fixing his belongings into a neat bundle. He looks at me and asks if I had anything for him to eat. Luckily I did! I reach into my bad to find the cashew, almond and cranberry mixture. I happily handed the package to my homeless acquaintance and you know what he said? No thanks.
The first thing I thought was that he’s obviously allergic to nuts, but check it out…he wasn’t. He was just being selective. Now one would think that this homeless person would be happy to get something to eat, especially when he asked me. In any case, I put my nuts back in my bag and continued reading my book but I couldn’t help but wonder how many people are rejecting what they asked for?
Now you may not be homeless or hunger, not for food anyway BUT how many times have you hungered for something?
More quality time with your children
To finally lose those stubborn 20lbs.
Money to hire a social media manager
To have a winning fabulous auto responder series
Ok, so the last two were total plugs but still…
When you’ve had the opportunity, you’ve made some excuse which is the same as saying “No thanks”
I remember times when I’ve been pooped, tired, just want to sit down and not do anything only to have my children want me to come play with them. Would you believe there were times when I told them “no thanks”.
I’d catch myself and say “what are you doing?” You see, I wanted to be a stay at home mom so that I could have time to spend with my children. I wanted to be for all of life’s little moments but in the beginning I was failing miserably. I learned to not only ask for what I wanted but to be able to recognize it and receive it when it showed up!
At the beginning of last year, I asked for a business coach that had integrity and the results that I wanted to see in my life and business. I found her on Facebook one afternoon. I began coaching with Sandi Krakowski last February and have been with her ever since.
Her guidance and mentorship have helped me build a successful Social Media Management business. Every day, I speak with people who have some business need. Whether it’s someone to manage their content, write an auto responder series or manage their social media profiles because they just don’t get it, have time or the desire to do it themselves. YET, they don’t want to make the commitment to get the help they need.
My question for you is this, when you get what you’ve been asking for do you receive it or reject it? If you are an entrepreneur with more work than time and you’re ready to invest in and make a commitment to get the help you need to grow your business to the next level then let’s talk.
Don’t be like my hungry friend who refused the very thing he asked for. Step up and get yours. It would be an honor to serve you and your clients.
