For the past few weeks I have developed a wicked taste for watermelon. I’ve always enjoyed it but I started to crave it to the point where I was literally eating it for days on end! Recently, I pulled up to a gentleman selling them on the sidewalk and purchased two of them. They weighted at least 30 pounds each! There are some serious health benefits to enjoying this super hydrating food.
You already know my love affair with this fruit but there is so much more! It’s loaded with vitamins and antioxidants. It hydrates, detoxifies and cleanses the body on a cellular level. Worried about the sugar content? Don’t be, it has half the sugar of an apple.
Not to be confused with their larger cultivated cousins found in most produce aisles. Wild blueberries can be found in the frozen sections and come mostly from Maine. They help to support the immune system, brain, gut and heart health. Also, they are filled with antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.
For this smoothie, I used one cup and added to the blender along with the watermelon. To be honest, I didn’t measure how much watermelon I used but when everything was blended (yup! seeds too) I had approximately seven cups and it was absolutely delicious 😋! So here is how I made the smoothie.
1 Cup wild blueberries
Watermelon (enough to make 7 cups when blended)
Add ingredients to blender and set on high until thoroughly blended.
Drink immediately for optimal benefits
